Dolwyddelan Castle is the traditional birthplace of Llywelyn the Great 1173, Dolwyddelan Castle, which stands in a much more prominent position, was most probably built by Llwelyn the Great early in the 13th century.
Dolbadarn Castle stands above Llyn Padarn, between Caernarfon and Snowdonia. Built by the Welsh Princes it dates to the 13th century and built by Llywelyn ap Iorwerth
